Swindon Parent Partnership
Swindon Parent Partnership Service (SPPS) is a statutory requirement and is an “in-house” service operating at arms-length from Swindon Borough Council.
We can help parents
- Understand local authority process & procedures
- Understand their parental rights and responsibilities
- Outline ALL their options
- Help them achieve the most appropriate education for their child
SPPS pride ourselves on offering parents and carers independent impartial information and support in all aspects of their child’s educational needs, particularly during Statutory Assessment.
We can support parents in the following:
- Prepare for and support them at meetings
- Make a case for a particular type of provision or level of support
- Write letters to the local authority
- Understanding their child’s proposed statement and attached reports.
- Negotiate with professionals over any changes to the statement
- Draft contribution to their child’s Statutory Assessment
- By just being a listening ear
SPPS also help parents prepare for, and support them at, the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.
