Swindon Rangers Environmental Education
What the team do
The Ranger Team is responsible for the parks, green spaces and local nature reserves in the borough. Part of that duty is to provide an educational programme designed to put people in touch with the natural world in the local area.

What we offer
- Set sessions on a variety of topics
- Sessions tailored to the National Curriculum and QVA Schemes of Work
- Specially created sessions for individual groups
- All equipment and resources
- Friendly, qualified staff who have experience in environmental education
- In-depth subject and location knowledge
- Tuition at one of our parks or in-house
- Self-led help and resources
- Although the sessions below are geared towards children aged five to eleven, we aim to deliver to all age groups
- Limited indoor facilities at Coate Water and Stanton Park
- Comprehensive safety and risk assessment information for all sites
- Advice for managing grounds for wildlife
- No charge for schools and groups within Swindon borough
Subjects
'Off the shelf' sessions we run for about two hours (but this is flexible) and can depend on the season are listed below:
- Freshwater Detectives - Exploration of ponds as habitats and their countless organisms
- Bird Brains - A peak into the lives of our feather friends.
- Amazing Minibeasts - Crawl and hunt and identify invertebrates in a range of habitats
- Nature Quest - A walk plus activities in this exploration of the natural world
- Plants in Action - Investigate the world of plants and how they live
- Wood you believe it? - Uncover the secret life of the tree with a range of activities
- Art in the Park - Be inspired by your surroundings and create some art
- Maptastic - Orienteering with a twist, exercise and learning combined
- Funky Fungi - Discover the forgotten kingdom and learn about mushrooms
