The Iain Grant Trust 

The Iain Grant Charitable Trust is a charity whose aim is to provide professional development opportunities for teachers who are interested in travelling abroad to study teaching methods used in other countries. The trustees currently have funds available to support teachers who meet the set criteria.

To be eligible for a grant, applicants must fulfil the selection criteria set out below:

1. Be a working classroom teacher, from any country, of children under the age of thirteen.

2. Have at least seven years teaching experience.

3. Be planning to travel abroad for a period of up to six weeks.

4.     Be willing to give an undertaking to the trustees that they intend to resume their teaching career on return from the visit.

5.     Be willing to give an undertaking to the trustees to write a short article about their visit. This article should be sent to the trustees for their use in any way they deem appropriate, within one month of returning to their home country.

6.     If the report includes photographs we require your consent together with the relevant consent from the individuals portrayed in the images to use these photographs on our web page. To be included with your report.

Applicants must apply by letter and curriculum vitae and include the following information:
1. Full name
2. Address
3. Date of Birth
4. Town and Country of Birth
5. Tax payer identification number
6. Teaching experience to date including school, age of students taught and length of service
7. Details of the planned visit abroad, including purpose and proposed outcomes.
8. Names and addresses of two referees, including email addresses.
9. Indicate whether the current employer has agreed to leave of absence to make the visit.
10. Provide a schedule of the anticipated costs of the visit, together with the source of any finance already obtained and confirmation that the visit cannot take place without financial assistance.
Note the sponsorship must be taken up within twelve months of being granted.
