Swindon National Literacy Trust Hub

The National Literacy Trust is an independent charity working with schools and communities to give disadvantaged children the literacy skills to succeed in life.

Here in Swindon, the charity has set up a National Literacy Trust Hub in partnership with Swindon Borough Council and WHSmith.

National Literacy Trust Hubs bring together local partners, including business, health, education and cultural organisations, to tackle literacy issues in the community. The approach is different in each Hub because every community has different needs and this is the best way to create long-lasting change.

The Swindon Hub will focus on promoting reading for enjoyment, equipping young people at secondary school with the literacy skills they need to achieve, and building on existing work in the early year’s sector.

Teachers, schools and early year’s settings will be able to access evidence-based resources, research, programmes and National Literacy Trust membership to make your literacy provision highly effective.

Updates and information about the work of the Swindon National Literacy Trust Hub will appear here. Anish Harrison is the Swindon National Literacy Trust Hub Manager and can answer any questions you have about the initiative: contact Anish on 01793 463798/07517 995744, or email aharrison@swindon.gov.uk .
